The left seems to think the right will tear Newt limb from limb if he gets much more traction in Iowa, or beyond. After all, he does have a well-publicized affair in his not-too-distant past.
I just don’t think so. Do I want a moral man as President? Certainly, but am I willing to overlook a few faults in order to get a conservative elected. In my best Palin voice, “you betcha.”
Personally, I’m not fond of some of the Republican candidates – I had hoped for Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie … no such luck, America. The candidates we do have have their share of warts.
I’m no big fan of Romney - he’s had opposing positions on almost every issue of note in recent memory. And yeah, he’s a Mormon – which is a faith I can’t really get behind … but assure you, dear reader – I’d be like George Costanza running little old ladies over in my rush to the polls if it meant voting in Romney and unseating Obama.
That video always makes me chuckle.
Anyway, Herman Cain seems like a fine fellow – at this point, I’m not buying into all the sexual harassment allegations. I’m not counting them out – but this has all the tell-tale signs of a Chicago smear job. On the issues – he has some neat ideas on the economy but he’s got flat-zero experience in foreign policy. He’s also got zero experience in Washington politics but that’s probably a net plus.
Bachmann - the woman has no chance and no more experience than the guy she’s wanting to replace.
Ron Paul - I think he’s a little bit nuts.
Santorum - seems like a nice fellow but he has no real chance.
Huntsman - a liberals idea of who a conservative should be. We let liberals pick our last conservative nominee, I’m not anxious for a repeat.
Rick Perry -not ready for prime time.
That leaves us with Newt. He’s probably not what any of us were hoping for (Ronald Reagan pt 2) but he’s smart – regardless of what Paul Krugman says. Newt always has great ideas and admittedly a few bad ones too. He knows Washington – he made it work once before. He knows the world stage and he is the only candidate that looks clearly capable of bringing the party together.
I’m not ready to cast any votes yet – but right now, my interest is mainly with Newt Gingrich. He has some shortcomings of course – but a good VP selection would smooth some feathers.
Eric Jackson owns a landscape company in Fort Wayne, Indiana – I was introduced to Eric through a mutual friend.
Eric had a web-presence but it was becoming a little dated. We’re working to update his website and put it on a platform that he can easily update himself.
WordPress is ideal for a site like this so I’ve built Eric a custom theme that better reflects the nature of his work. The site is still under construction but you’re welcome to view it at www.ericjacksonlandscapedesign.com
Incidentally, I’ve used Eric for some of my own landscaping and we couldn’t be happier with his efforts. We already have a few projects we’re eyeballing for Eric to do next spring.
Jim and I have been discussing reworking his site for sometime. Jim had a lot of content on his site but it was becoming pretty dated – I’ve known Jim for the better part of 10 years, and it’s been largely the same site during the entirety of our relationship.
Jim runs a wholesale reproduction military product business – where he supplies implements such as reproduction buttons and buckles to retailers and craftsmen who product 18th and 19th century uniforms and accoutrements.
Jim wanted a website that he could easily update himself – without a lot of background in html, etc so I installed a software package as a backend where editing a post works much like posting on an internet forum. Hopefully it will serve Jim well.
The theme I’ve built for Jim builds off the color scheme and some of the images from his old site – particularly the woodcut images. I built a custom menu system for Jim to help organize his offerings in a series of drop-down menus and sub-menus. Check it out at www.milwarehouse.com – we’re still making some changes but it’s 90% there.
